Here you’ll find music, singing, instruments galore.

I used to fall asleep listening to my mum play the piano. I never really had a choice, I was always going to love music.

Decades of agonising practice later, tormenting my poor cat and some very patient neighbours, I now have more instruments than is strictly necessary but am always eager to add more to the menagerie. I get so much joy out of adapting whatever comes my way both as a singer and instrumentalist but also as a song writer. Have an explore..

This selection includes “Daddy” from These Trees Are Made of Blood at the Southwark Playhouse, “Ayotzinapa” from Day of the Living for the RSC, and “Take Flight” for My Brilliant Friend at the National Theatre.

It’s a joy working with songwriters and composers, bringing new music to life and in some cases even helping shape it.

Songwriting

Margaret Porteous was the first victim of the 1665 plague and she is buried at the Actor’s Church. I wrote this in 2020 and sang it on the eve of lockdown 2 in the garden where she lies.

Commissioned as part of an online concert On Hope, this song imagines the chaotic inner lives of the pandemic’s many insomniacs as #TwoAM comes round again.

My Welsh MamGu refused to pass on the language she knew fluently. Dw i Eisiau Siarad Cymuru, asks if you can ever feel whole when you don’t have the words to express yourself.
